The 3rd periodic 340 Club Reunion has been postponed indefinitely

Before there was an Animal House there was a 340 Club; before there was a Dean Wormer there was a Harold "the fuck" Martin; before there was John Blutarsky or a Daniel Simpson Day there was Tim Lutter, Sil Simpson, Dan Joyce, Tim Getzloff, Dick Lichty, Jim Shay, Phil Zangari, Chris Joyce, Dave Petkosh, Mitch Herr, Kenny Giltner, Dean Staherski, Randy Brown, John Emswiler, Sue Krimmell Emswiler and myself; before there were any Delta Tau Chi pledge pins, there were 340 Club cards; before Otis Day & the Knights, the 340 Jukebox; before there were Delta Brothers there were the usual gang of idiots that congregated at 328, 340 (twice) and 338 West King Street in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for a decade beginning in August 1974. This blog is dedicated to those idiots and those times. God bless Kenny, Mitch and Chris; may they rest in peace.

Curator's Corner 1

Various artifacts, objects, letters, tickets and whatnot will be on display weekly in the Curator’s Corner. This week feature’s three items from my Quick Box. In the early innocent days at 340, Philip – with my input – used to maintain a list of girls/women that I pined for; later – at the end of the 340 – it was a less innocent list of women that I had known. Here then our this week’s artifacts:

A list of my schoolboy crushes maintained by Philip (Spring ’76):

A symbol of lost innocence (circa ’78):

A later list, still dutifully maintained by Philp: (Fall ’83):

The second picture marks the second item stolen by John Belushi in one of his movies. The general scene was obviously depicted in Animal House. The picture here was given a nod in The Blues Brothers when Frank Oz returns to John Belushi his belongings including one condom, used.

The late 1983 list contained 90 names and, at the end of the decadent decade, when I left 340 totaled 120. In a decade, that meant every month (on average) a new young lady entered my life in an intimate fashion.

Tee, I remember the weekend when you went to New York and, as the cliche regarding women says, never went back. What was the date of that important event in 328 or 340 history?

Shirley you refer to the March 1977 St. Patrick's Day weekend when Accu Jack Kelly hosted City L and me at the end of a journalistic convention that Mr. Getzloff attended in what was then known as "Fear City" ... one of the pivotal events was when Accu decided to take us downtown for what could be euphamistically described as "breakfast" ... the professional woman who was engaged to serve breakfasy provided a different fare than was bargained for ... this particular adventure will be covered later as I am just now beginning to enter 1975 so I am 26 months away from getting to that episode
